Self-Conducted Learning…☯️
Written And Recorded By Bruno GR Gama

Self-direction is more than a skill that is learned by an orienting mechanism in life itself that orients psychological well-being and health. Moving towards what is volitional helps inform individuals about the unique way they are connected to the world. In this blog post I will be discussing the important of well-being as a cue to self-direction which shapes learning through reinforcement and punishment involving a holistic set of variable integrals to a good life related to work. What individuals do for work is not the focus of this piece as many people across various backgrounds have been studied. I will define self-direction in this piece as having a learning mode and behavioural mode related to different studies mentioned to bridge gaps between important factors related to self-directions relationship to health and well-being. What is most surprising is the degree to which learning is done organically with different intervening factors associated with psychological and health markers of well-being. Optimal learning and performance associated with human flourishing is driven in large part by self-direction...
Self-Conducted Learning & Performance
Optimal functioning is a crucial measure to understanding the value of self-direction in life to improve health and well-being. Core to optimal functioning is a mindset that largely involved in self-directed learning oriented towards work. Self-Conducted learning that is associated with personality factors including specific behaviours shape individual trajectories towards positive health, well-being and performance metrics. This means that increased performance is related self-direction outside of a direct relationship to improving the quality of life, individuals who are self-directed in work demonstrate greater levels of well-being associated with job satisfaction, happiness at work and health. Seeking opportunities to work and grow in doing so that provide an optimal level of strain place by job demands, volition and social support play key roles in satisfying basic needs associated with well-being and health that impacts the life span. Personalities that are proactive and have greater personal initiative are essential to leading more engaged and demanding tasks in life that are related to work in meaningful ways. Engagement has found similar traits associated with resilience and efficacy that are mentioned in self-conducted learning orientation with parallels to effects found in personality and behaviour traits measured in an empirical study measuring responses from 837 workers across 9 categories including other (Raemdonck, Gijbels & van Groen, 2014). Measures that explore the impact of engagement on well-being and performance tend to show correlations to mindset involving resilience, hope, optimism and efficacy.
Curiosity, Innovative Work Behaviours & Self-Direction
Self-directed learning provides a major mechanism that facilitates work curiosity and creativity integral to optimal living that has practical benefits related to work. Innovative work behaviours are associated by underlying emotional, cognitive and behavioural underpinnings largely connected to autonomous motivations. Individuals who are pleasantly engaged in the environment are more likely to experience optimal affects and report higher degrees of well-being and health often record on Likert scales utilizing inferential statistics. Scales help to measure the interconnectedness between emotions like curiosity, behaviours and events that shape outcomes on health, happiness, meaning in life, and performance related to work and learning outcomes. Creative behaviours appear to play and important role in the measurement of self-directed learning that occur with interesting in novel situations that enable more flexible ways of cognizing the world. Individuals who are more curious and exhibit self-directed patterns of learning score high on measures associated with creativity in exploring new ideas, solutions and ways of behaving. Important to the facilitation of curiosity is the underlying positive emotion of interest that plays an important role in engagement linking presence to an outside source. Individuals who score higher on measures of work engagement are related to curiosity, workplace learning and self-direction that collectively influences well-being, performance and health. Innovative work behaviours are important moderators that can be related to specific measures of curiosity, self-direction, engagement, health as well as well-being. Individuals who engage in more IWBs score higher on interacting with the work environment in novel and problem-oriented ways that are linked to creative and authentic behaviours.
Perspective-Taking In Self-Direction
Lifelong learning captures a broad concept that can apply holistically throughout augmentations in life interfacing with work in crucial ways that benefit performance related to well-being. Understanding the foundations that build up a self-directed mindset span from biopsychosocial interactions that relate personality, behaviour and environmental shifts that direct inferences made regarding what factors constitute a better life. Mindset related to self-direction includes behavioural measures that help to define self-directed learning orientations through cognitions and behaviour allowing for inferences to be made regarding personality psychology. Personality can inform individuals of an orienting factor that implicitly and explicitly guides decision-making towards exploration, learning and mastery of the environment related to self-direction. Learning and performance can inform us about metrics that allow for inferential assessments to be made building on previous knowledge including competencies. Skill based learning often expands in relation to exploratory behaviours measured in subjective self-conducted learning reports. Cognitions that are related to skill-based learning demonstrate the implications ways of perceiving the world of work have a direct impact on performance, job satisfaction in addition to positive functioning that incorporates health and well-being. Seeking out information, asking questions or solving novel or challenging work related problems engage individuals in ways that expand learning through a cognitive-behavioural process involving mindset...
Efficacy in Direction
Underlying all these factors in a measure of efficacy corresponding to mindset related performance measures. Having the capacity to sustain effort towards solving a problem or completing a task appears to be a crucial aspect of the relationship to work behaviours and well-being. Self-conducted learning, perspective(s) on life, curiosity and innovative work behaviours have directed underpinnings involving measures of efficacy that are crucial in the analysis of performance at work as it pertains to improve optimal living. Autonomy in directing the self towards the work environment to expand knowledge, competence or fulfill an intrinsic need aligned with work is important to having motivations that fuel performance through internal psychological factors towards positive advancements in the environment that facilitate flourishing. Engaging effective self-conducted self-navigation(s) that open the individual’s mind to the internal and/or external world environment through volitional wiser freer choice(s) to self-navigate more freely to learn and/or understand One’s own encompassing existência miås âċępçãóşó upon the cultivation(s) of masterfulness in the environment within the particularization(s) corresponding to domain-specific learning adventure(s) direct directly and/or indirectly related to more reliable psychological measurement tool(s) involving factors that r more probabilistically likely to be self-reported to make life butter across distinct internal and/or external condition(s) and/or situation(s) more reliably than other x variable(s) studied directly and/or indirectly related to self-conducted learning most meaningfully. Greater efficacy that is defined as efforts made towards demands outside the self-associated with an individual’s pursuits is important to navigating through ill-well-being while promoting human flourishing for the self and others...
Bring it Together
Taking in the collection of factors that inform us about how various metrics guide understandings of psychological variables important in a work relationship that is linked to living a good life, many aspects of what it means to be an individual are assessed spanning from mind, body, behaviour and organizational assessments. By holistically viewing how we have collectively come to know that is important to leading work lives that predict better outcomes related to human flourishing, individual decision-makers are empowered to make more data-driven decisions with a greater likelihood of success in moving in more optimal directions that benefit performance, health and well-being. A core progressive force in self-direction is efficacy that describes how sustaining motivations towards difficult or challenging blocks to success is an essential element of optimal living. Learning that adopts self-directed features helps to expand knowledge and creativity associated with activities involving environmental mastery that harmonize the world towards improved wellness across metrics of human flourishing. It appears that performance related well-being at work is in a large part determined by self-direction underpinned through efficacious actions often intrinsically supported. Advancement forward in life therefore requires a movement initiated from inside the person outwards into the work environment that provides a measurement of context specific characteristics integral to evaluating work related wellness...
